Go Groups

Go Groups

Go Groups are a group of disciples of Jesus led by a disciple-maker with an intentional plan to take a next step of growth toward Christlikeness through consistent investment.  

Go Groups provide biblical community and discipling opportunities for every follower of Jesus. They have freedom to decide when and where they meet, how long they’ll meet, and how many people will be in the group. Some Go Groups are informal, as small as one person discipling another, while other groups may have 10, 25, or even 100 people. More important than size is purpose: in Go Groups, disciple makers are intentionally helping one another take their next step of growth in Christlikeness, seeking to add what is missing, expand what is growing, and restore what is neglected.

Go Groups pursue three aims:

  • Study – devoted to biblical truth and doctrine
  • Fellowship – taking the truth of the Word into our relationships 
  • Serve – living out the truths of Scripture in serving others

Go Study Groups
Go Groups with the aim of Study are devoted to biblical truth and doctrine. While some may meet on various days and in different locations, most are currently meeting on our campus on Sunday mornings at 9:30am and 11:00am.

Go Groups

Acts 1-12 9:30am

Purpose: The main purpose of this Go Group is to observe evidence of a life changed by Jesus and help others walk in faithfulness by studying the book of Acts.

Practices and Pursuits: This Go Study Group will help disciples imitate the early church’s Holy Spirit-empowered faith, repentance, unity, fellowship, service, generosity, suffering, perseverance, boldness, witnessing, proclamation, and multiplication. 

Teachers: Wes Tucker and Avery Rhoton

Hosea: The God Who Redeems (Women’s Study) 9:30am

Purpose: The main purpose of this GO Study Group is to observe the glory of God in the doctrine of salvation and to help others walk in faithfulness by studying the book of Hosea.

Practice and Pursuits: This GO Study Group will help disciples add, expand, and restore Bible study habits and methods and learn to practice talking about the truths of God’s faithfulness, covenant love, redemption, and sanctification found in the book of Hosea.

Family Discipleship (Men’s Study) 9:30am

Purpose:  The main purpose of this Go Study Group is to help disciples grow in their understanding and pursuit of family discipleship.

Practices and Pursuits:  This Go Study Group will help disciples grow in their understanding of what family discipleship is as well as add, expand, or restore practices, habits, and rhythms that build a culture of spiritual growth within the context of the home.

Teachers: Austin Whittington, Eric Beach & Brandon VanHuss

Abiding Prayer 9:30am

Purpose:  The main purpose of this Go Study Group is to help disciples understand the purpose, methods, and forms of prayer while developing practices that will help them grow personally and help disciple others in the practice of prayer.

Practices and Pursuits:  This Go Study Group will help disciples add, expand, and restore healthy habits and methods of prayer including praying Scripture and practicing a balanced approach to the content and forms of prayer in adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication.

Cultivating A Christ-Centered Marriage 11:00am

Purpose: The main purpose of this Go Study Group is to equip disciples to grow in their understanding of God’s plan and purpose for marriage. 

Practices and Pursuits: This study group will help you grow in your understanding of God’s design for marriage, how to fight for joy in Jesus alongside your spouse, and how to cultivate an environment of honesty, forgiveness, and trust. 

Teachers: Jeremy Bledsoe and Gene Mermilliod

Wisdom in Generosity 11:00am

Purpose: The main purpose of this Go Study Group is to equip disciples to grow in the spiritual discipline of generosity. 

Practices and Pursuits: This study group will help you grow in your understanding of how the gospel cultivates a heart of generosity, as well as how to intentionally grow in the discipline of generosity as we pursue loving God with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength.

Wisdom in Sanctification (1 Thessalonians) 11:00am

Purpose: The main purpose of this Go Study Group is to equip disciples to grow in their pursuit of Jesus through the Book of 1 Thessalonians. 

Practices and Pursuits: This study group will help you grow in your understanding of what sanctification is, and how to grow in holiness as a Jesus follower in a broken world.

Wisdom in Humility (Women’s Study) 11:00am

Purpose: The main purpose of this Go Study Group is to equip disciples to grow in their pursuit of humility. 

Practices and Pursuits: This study group will help you grow in your understanding of what humility is, what it is not, and how to practically pursue growth in humility in the context of everyday life.

Serve

Go Serve Groups
Go Groups with the aim of Serve live out the truths of Scripture in serving others. They meet on various days and in various locations throughout the Tri-Cities. 

Appalachian Trail Outreach

Purpose: The main purpose of this GO Serve Group is to equip disciples to grow in experience and competency in sharing the gospel with others.

Practices & Pursuits: This Go Serve Group will help disciples learn how to use an evangelism tool and use that tool to engage in gospel conversations with hikers on the Appalachian Trail.

Meeting Location and Frequency:

Equipping – TCBC campus, Adult Hall, 1st Wednesdays from 6:30-7:45
Ministry – Appalachian Trail, one Saturday per month

International Student Outreach

Purpose: The main purpose of this GO Serve Group is to equip disciples to cultivate relationships with international students and grow in experience and competency in gospel conversations.

Practices & Pursuits: This Go Serve Group will help disciples learn how to use an evangelism tool, recognize various barriers to the gospel in different cultures, and grow in overcoming those obstacles in evangelistic opportunities.

Sew2Sow

Purpose: The main purpose of this GO Serve Group is to equip disciples to grow in awareness and burden for the global lost and unreached people.

Practices & Pursuits: This Go Serve Group will learn about and pray for unreached women and resource missionaries with evangelism tools and care products in South Asian and Africa.

Equip is a weekly gathering that helps disciple makers take a next step. EQUIP is structured around table leaders who serve as coaches and mentors for those wanting to grow as disciple makers. Registration is not necessary.
