2 Peter

2 Peter

What does it look like to live in a world that is not our home? What does it mean to suffer well? How do we fix our hope now on the future return of Jesus? How do we live prepared to give a reason for the hope that is within us? In the epistles we now know as 1 & 2 Peter, the apostle Peter writes to the elect exiles in the first century who were facing difficult persecution and severe suffering. He calls the believers then and now to look to Jesus, the one who endured suffering before us, who has promised to return, and who alone is our living hope!

2 Peter 3:14-18 Jesus Followers Are Called To Pursue Faithfulness

[14] Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. [15] And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, [16] as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and…

(1) This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, (2) that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, (3) knowing this first of all that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 2 Peter 3:1-3 (8) But do not overlook…

2 Peter 2:17-22 Take Care! There Will Be False Teachers Among You Part 2

October 9, 2022 Message by Paul Mermilliod 2 Peter 2:17-22 [17] These are waterless springs and mists driven by a storm. For them the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved. [18] For, speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error. [19] They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved. [20]…

2 Peter 2:17-22 Take Care! There Will Be False Teachers Among You Part 2

1 Peter 2:1-3[1] But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. [2] And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. [3] And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction…

2 Peter 1:16-21 Scripture is God’s perfect self-revelation, our only trustworthy authority, and the means for growth in Christlikeness

Message by Paul Mermilliod. And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, [3] and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them. [4] And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. [5] And Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make…

[12] Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. [13] I think…
