2 Peter 1:15 Jesus Followers Make Every Effort To Persevere

Message by Paul Mermilliod.

[10] Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. [11] For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. [12] Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. [13] I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder, [14] since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. [15] And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.

2 Peter 1:10-15

BIG TRUTH:

JESUS FOLLOWERS MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO PERSEVERE

And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.
2 Peter 1:15

Big Ideas:

We persevere by making our calling and election sure. (2 Peter 1:10)

We persevere by putting into practice a life of faith. (2 Peter 1:10-11)

We persevere by laboring to stir one another up. (2 Peter 1:12-13)

to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
Ephesians 4:12

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:24-25

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
John 13:34-35

Big Idea:

We persevere until death. (2 Peter 1:13-15)

Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you.
Philippians 3:13-15

let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2
