Series: Ephesians
Teacher: Paul Mermilliod
Ephesians 4:11-16
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, [12] to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, [13] until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, [14] so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. [15] Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, [16] from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

- We must acknowledge the lies that keep us from speaking the truth.
Lies that Keep Us from Speaking the Truth…
- Lie of Reception: (They must desire it before I share it)

- Lie of Effort: (Building up should be easy, not hard)
Big Idea:
Maturing Jesus Followers Speak the Truth in Love
- Love is our motive for speaking the truth. (1 Tim 1:5)
- Love builds up. (1 Cor 8:1)
- Love is a measure of our maturing. (Eph 4:16)

Revelation 2:2–5
“I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false.I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name’s sake, and you have not grown weary. But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.”
