Very Thankful!
Elder Letter by Larry Durham
Philippians 1:3 – 6 (ESV)
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
As I reflect on this journey as a member and subsequently one of your leaders at TCBC going back to our arrival from Charlotte back in August 2012, the title of this letter sums it up that my family and I are simply thankful for this season with you.
The Lord has been so gracious and kind to allow us to join you in the following over these years:
- Planting of two churches (Denver, CO & Portland, OR)
- Launch of the Johnson City Campus
- Sending of 100+ short to long-term individuals on mission trips and ministry assignments
- The church generously giving $1 million+ to missions over a five-year span
- Numerous local and regional church & community partnerships
- 100s of individuals proceeding in obedience via baptism (including three of our children)
-100+ TCBC members plus non-members gaining Biblical training through the Leadership Cohort (Melissa and myself included) - Numerous marriages being restored
- Numerous adoptions
- Growth as a body in proclaiming the Gospel where we live, work, play and GO
- Growth as dads/moms/families/caregivers in prioritizing family discipleship in partnership with the church
- Growth in leading, learning & serving with plurality as a foundation
I could go on and on with individual, family, and church basis but I’ll stop and simply encourage the body to keep the Mission as the focus; nothing more, nothing less.
As the Apostle Paul states, TCBC will continue to be in our prayers, and we look forward to the Lord’s continued work in and through you for His sake and glory.
Thank you!
